I’m getting old :-)

We had heavy showers here yesterday and got 18 mm (slightly less than 4/5 ths of an inch) of rain within two hours. I was just about to start writing here when the sun broke through so I took the dogs for a walk instead.

Everything was wet and slippery in the forest and I did slip slightly every now and again when we were out there but really didn’t think much about it. I did later in the evening though when I suddenly couldn’t move my back without feeling the pain of death πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ It’s actually not the back itself that hurts like h..l, it’s a muscle to the far left rather low down that must have been badly stretched.Β

It hurts just as bad today and it is of course most bad when I’ve been sitting down for a while.Β  So I’ve taken the dogs for a short walk this morning and when Albin pulled the leash I told him in not so many words but with the sound of impending death in my voice that he wouldn’t get much older if he did it again πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ He got the message πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So today I’ll treat my back with heat and I’ll try to move around as much as possible in between. Yes I am at home if You wondered πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Lifting 20-25 kg (44- 55 pound sacks with powder paint while bending the back is not something I should do today πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m afraid they would have to carry me out on a stretcher if I tried that πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The kitchen door is open even though it still is a bit chilly. The temperature will reach just below 20C (68F) as warmest today and even though autumn still really hasn’t arrived it does feel like it has. Lots of mushrooms I don’t recognize has stareted to show so now I’m just waiting for the ones I do know and can eat. One can never have too much mushrooms in the freezer. If for nothing else so to make a stew and have them on sandwiches πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

  1. Hi Christer,
Nice to see the toad house. Is that real moss in the window boxes? πŸ™‚
I was just noticing yesterday that the acorns are turning green.
There was a meme on Facebook this morning. It showed a man rubbing his lower back and the caption was “I’m getting old. I threw my back out when the toaster startled me.” I hope your strained muscle repairs itself quickly.
It was really hot and humid here yesterday. I think we broke a record for hottest day in August ever so far. I did have to turn the AC on late in the day and through the night. It’s not quite so hot this morning and much less humid. The windows are open but the fans are also running. There’s not much of a breeze so I make my own.
Rest your back and enjoy the day.

    1. Hi Caryn!

It’s real moss that started to grow there by itself πŸ™‚

Our acorns are green all the time unbtil they are ripe enough for the Jays and squirrels to take them. Won’t be long until they turn first yellow and then brown.

I didn’t get that meme but it fits me so well πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
      >Heat does help a while but it doesn’t take long before the pain comes back. The sort of steady pain I can take but the one that feels like someone is stabbing me is awful, perhaps mostly because one never know when to expect it, much like the Spanish inquisition πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We’ve had a rather pleasant day here, lots of clouds and lots of sunshine and the temperature did reach 68. We even gotr a short shower when the sun shone. It eneded before I reach the kitchen door to close it πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      I will πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  2. Ouch! Hope your back feels better soon. I can relate! It’s been a beautiful summer so far-no really high temps. I can’t wait till autumn. My favorite season.

    1. Hi tana!

It’s moving towards the right direction anyway πŸ™‚

Spring is my favorite season with autumn as number two. I used to love summer but since I moved here and having to deal with all these flies during summer I don’t like it as much.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.
