The days are getting longer.

Still too dark to take photos after work so these are of course older.

The sun shows itsef four minutes longer every day now (well if there aren’t any clouds that is) and today I saw the most beautiful evening sky on my way home after work. The sun had set (eight minutes before I stopped working) but there were thin clouds up in the sky that got colored in every nuance of yellow, orange and red there are.

Nothing much happens this time of year, especially not when the winter is as warm as it is now. I can’t even complain about snow storms and too much snow shovelling 🙂 🙂 To be honest I’m quite happy about that and I personally wouldn’t complain too much in the winter stayed like this until spring arrived.

The animals are fed and I’ve paid a few bills so now I can relax for the rest of the evening. I hope there’s something interesting on tv but I doubt it. I’m not sure I have any unread books to read but I can always reread an old one that I’ve almost forgotten 🙂

Have a great day!

  1. the light is returning. our winter has been such a bust without much snow at all. we are about to warm up again so i don’t expect we will see much snow this year.

    1. Hi Jaz!

I do feel sorry for You since You do want a snowy winter! I wonder though how long even us uphere in the north will get that?
The weather here seems to stay on steady above 32F temperatures but if the polar vortex changes that can change fast.

      Have a great day!

  2. Hi Christer,
We have had snow and it has been very cold since then so most of it is still around. Nevertheless, it has also been extremely sunny and that’s great for one’s general outlook. I sat out on the top step for a few seconds on Tuesday while the dogs were doing their thing. We did manage a short walk up the dirt road, too, and the dogs were happy about that. It’s been too cold to hang around outside for long. Today, Wednesday, we took a longer walk around the neighborhood because it was “warm”. Just around freezing, I think. Later I did some errands and stopped by the lake to take some photographs. Lots of sun and wind. I got some natural vitamin D. 😀
Old books are great to reread. Mostly I’ve forgotten what happened anyway unless I’ve read them several times so it’s almost like a new book.
    Enjoy the evening.

    1. Hi Caryn!

We have actually had sunshine and warm weather here but today it was cloudy and drizzly. Rather nice anyway, I came home an hour early so we managed to take a walk before it went dark. I don’t mind if it is cold just as long as it isn’t windy.

I’ve mostly forgotten the books I reread but one I did remember way tooeraly in the book, Small Gods 🙂 I suddenly remembered how annoyed I was at the main character so I refused to read the whole book again 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!

  3. Christer,
We have had snow only once this year. There was so little of it I swept the steps and the walk. The sun came out and melted the walkway clear. I brushed the snow off the windows of the sun ad the sun took care of the rest. We have had two stretches of really freezing weather, but the rest of the winter has been warmer than usual.

I love that the days are getting longer, but it is so few a number of minutes that it doesn’t seem much lighter. Like you, I love the colorful sky at night. It is filled with reds and oranges. Red sky at night, sailors delight. Red sky in the morning sailors take warning.

    Have a wonderful day!

    1. Hi Kat!

It actually snowed here during the night but it melted away as soon as it became day down here but stayed for quite some time up on the mountain. I really don’t need it to last any longer than that 🙂 🙂

Since I live further north than You days become longer much faster. So when I drive back home from Work on Monday I’ll see the sun set (they say we’ll have sunshine on Monday) 🙂 It won’t take long now until the sun doesn’t set until after I’ve come home 🙂

I’m not sure those old sayings fit any longer, now a colorful eveninbg usually means cloudy the next day and a colorful morning usually means a cloudy day later on 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.
